IEEE 802.3cv
“Maintenance #15: Power over Ethernet” is currently under development by the IEEE P802.3cv Power over Ethernet (Maintenance #15) Task Force and anticipated to publish in November, 2020. As Type 3 and Type 4 PoE technology continues to evolve, various editorial and technical issues in Clause 30 (Management), Clause 33 (Power over Ethernet over 2 Pairs), Clause 79 (Organizationally Specific Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) Type, Length, and Value (TLV) Information Elements), and Clause 145 (Power over Ethernet) of IEEE Std 802.3-2018 have been identified. This project will add clarifying text on Data Link Layer classification, failure to detect a valid PD detection signature, and the Autoclass procedure and make other adjustments to improve the accuracy and clarity of these four Clauses.
No new features will be added by this project.
